I have a shop in Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall, Surulere, Lagos and another in Oluwole Market on the Island, so the rains don’t have much effect. The only negative effect of the rains was that, people couldn’t come out to buy things. We had low patronage as a result of this because when we had 10 customers when there was no rain, we had only few during the rainy days.

There is nothing we can do, it’s a natural situation. We are gradually nearing the end of the rainy season. So, its normal for it to fall incessantly like we had in the last few days.

The rainy season has affected us a lot. Most times, we would have fixed time to shoot but we had to put some on hold because of the rains. Some actors might be trapped in their houses, finding it difficult to come to location, some have cars but when the rains get too heavy, nobody would want to drive in such situation. We cannot operate most of our equipment under the rains, so, we just have to wait for it to stop.

We just have to keep on shifting and it makes us spend additional days on location. It also increases our budget.

Rain is a natural gift from God. I don’t see it as a disadvantage. Rain is life, it is one of God’s best gifts to mankind.

It is natural, there is nothing you and I can do about it. I thank God for rain, I cope like any other person. It is something you can’t stop or re-programme. It is natural and seasonal.

Yes, the rain atimes affects us, especially when we’re on movie location. It may drag the shoot beyond normal, and in most cases such a thing may attract additional cost. But there is nothing we can do about it because it’s a natural occurrence.

The only thing we can do is to learn to cope with the situation and adjust our programmes to suit the weather condition we’re in right now.

As we all know, we have indoor and outdoor events. The rain affects mostly the outdoor events because it can damage some of our equipment, if not well protected, and it can also delay the running of the event. To a larger extent, the effect is minimal because we always prepare for the unexpected (rain) before going for our outdoor events.

Like I said, we take pro active measures in order not to be affected by the rain during our events. We make sure all our equipment are well protected and we also try as much as possible to have a plan B as regards the venue in order not to be affected by the rain.

The rains have not affected my business. The only fear some parents are still nursing is keeping their wards or children in the hostel is that of the ugly experience of the kidnapped Chibok school girls. Apart from that, the rains have not been disturbing because we have enough facilities that can take care of our students, including the school buses during the season. So, we’re coping well.

As an entrepreneur, I deal in furniture and building materials. It could be challenging at times during the rainy season, most especially for our furniture showroom. Most of the time, we need to display our samples outdoor because we need to attract customers and compete favourably with showrooms around our vicinity. When it rains, we always struggle to protect the chairs and accessories from damage. But even at that, we suffer losses sometimes because of negligence of staff.

But we have recently devised a way to protect our goods by adding a covered extension to our showroom which reduces our losses during the rainy season. But yet again, we have to pay local government council additional taxes and permit for the extension, which in a way affects our prices also.

I make sure all carpentry works are being done during this season in order to keep my clients fabrics safe and clean.

The rain does not affect me much but I have made a better carrier bags for my clients that even when they come and get their clothes and the rain meets them on the way, their clothes would remain intact without a drop of water on them, not to talk of it getting stained.

I have a shop in Obun Eko. I sell natural hair, shoes and bags and I have another shop where I sell lace materials within the same market. When the rainy season arrives, we always have muddy and flooded roads. This makes low turnout of customers.

In short, there is always low sales during rainy season. We therefore actually extend our marketing to our customers who can’t come out to purchase by calling and sending SMS to inform them of new arrivals, thanks to android phone technology. We attach pictures of our available goods to them and make home delivery of what they request. This has really helped sales greatly.

The only way rain affects my business is when I have to go shopping for perishable food items. I cater for a boarding school and anytime it rains, it becomes inconvenient to buy pepper and tomatoes because they become expensive.

I do not have a choice than to cope with the fact that this phase is not permanent but temporary. All the same, I have gotten a rain boot in order not to get my legs soiled in the muddy environment.

The rain has always had its effects on my business but not that much. Atimes, when it rains heavily, some of my customers may find it difficult to patronize me. But I am still coping.

And very soon, we will be in the dry season when there won’t be any rain again that can prevent them from coming to the shop to get whatever they want directly.

The rains don’t directly affect my business. But it could be really frustrating to commute in Lagos whenever it rains.

Government should step up road maintenance to ease movement.
