Why didn’t Osinbajo sit on presidential seat at FEC?

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting today (Wednesday, May 10, 2017) – keen observers noticed that he was sitting among the ministers. Instead of the seat reserved for President Muhammadu Buhari (who’s on medical vacation since Sunday, May 7 to the United Kingdom).

Decked in dark kaftan, the professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, sat nearest the President’s seat.
Also, at Wednesday, May 3, he sat among members of the cabinet while presiding over the meeting.
Is this a convention that even while acting the Vice President retains his normal spot?
