Ebony-skinned actress cum producer, Bukola Fagbuyi, is set to release her movie which was premiered abroad. ENCOMIUM Weekly spoke with her about this and her forthcoming movie.
What is new about Bukola Fagbuyi?
My new movie, Sekunola is what is new.
You premiered your movie in two international communities, why do it abroad and not in Nigeria?
My movie was nominated in the UK and also in the US, after the award, Sekunola was premiered in UK by Feskayus Entertainments and Bola Ara Entertainments and was premiered in the US by Afro Heritage Entertainments and All African Heritage Association, I did not do it myself it was done by the above organizations based on demands from my fans over there. I decided not to premiere in Nigeria because I will soon release it on DVD and it is going to be released first in Nigeria before any other country.
You debuted your career as a producer, why venture into production?
Movie making is what I have passion for and I want to bring out my best and contribute to the society by educating people through what I do.
Tell us about the movie you are working on now, what inspired it, major cast?
Sekunola is about parents, children, youth, education and I was inspired based on the fact that I love children. In our society today, I see how children are being treated and abused, so, I decided to educate people on that through dramatized sensitization. Starring Bukola Fagbuyi, Muyiwa Ademola, Saheed Balogun, Bimbo Oshin, Ibraheem Chatta, Dayo Amusa, kayode Olaiya (Aderupoko), Kunle Afod, Kemi Afolabi, Olaitan Ogungbile, Ariike Akinyanju, Toyosi Adesanya and many more.
How much has gone into it and what are your plans for it, is it going to the cinema or be released on DVD?
It is a multi million naira movie and will soon be released on DVD. It will be marketed and distributed by Integrity Films and Marketing Limited.
Who are your friends in the industry?
Everybody is my friend.
What are the qualities that make a good producer?
A good producer must be hard working, prayerful, intelligent, brilliant, smart and creative. Such must be able to set a good standard without compromising.
A lot of actresses are going into business nowadays, does this signify that the industry is no longer profitable?
Like the title of my movie, Sekuola (Add to Wealth) when you are wealthy, you should not be okay with your comfort zone, you should work hard and expand, that is why Dangote has a cement company, he also has a company producing rice, he later ventured into noodles production and many others not because his other companies are not profitable but because, he wants to expand and make more money. The same thing is applicable to our industry. You should appreciate us for being business oriented.

I am a single lady.
Tell us about your background?
I am from a family of six, the second to the last born. Growing up was fun in Akure with my mom a teacher. She has poultry and my dad is a business man that has a soup industry, he is also into farming.
