PARAMOUNT King of Music, Alhaji Abass Akande, famously addressed as Obesere has explained why he didn’t show up at the recently held K1 Live Unusual Concert organized by Fuji King, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe, otherwise known as K1 de Ultimate.

In a phone chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Sunday, November 30, 2014, the Asakasa crooner said he was not officially informed by the organizers of the show which held on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“I didn’t intentionally shun K1 Live Unusual Concert, the fact is that I was taken for granted by the organizers.  No one informed me or my manager of the show.  Not even a call by K1 himself.  I swear with Almighty Allah, I was only informed through the posters and banners all over the place.

“In actual sense, what they did was wrong and illegal.  They’re not supposed to put my name and picture on the posters and banners when they have not discussed anything with me.  And I am sure, K1 also can’t condone that.  But if I react now, they will say Obesere has come again.  There was nothing stopping K1 from informing me about it.

“It was a show I personally would have loved to perform if I had been told.  No one sent any invitation or letter to me to that effect.

“Even, a lot of my fans were also looking forward to such a show.  But they were all disappointed to know that I wasn’t informed.  They were not happy that I didn’t come.

“I had to honour another engagement that same day when I waited to hear from the organizers of K1 Live Unusual Concert, and nothing was heard from any of them.  It was that day I played for Captain Semiu Mustapha at R & A Hotel, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

“Although I left the shores of Nigeria for the Republic of Ireland since Wednesday, November 5 and I came back on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, that notwithstanding, I should have come if I had been informed of the show.  Even, within the two days to the concert.”

Asked if his action wasn’t prompted by the fact that both himself and K1 are perceived arch rivals, he reacted, “There is nothing like that at the moment.  We have no quarrel at all.  I have told you exactly what happened, and that’s the truth.

“I wasn’t the only one who didn’t go, I learnt 2Face also wasn’t there. I was told he had a show in South Africa. But people shouldn’t blame me for not being part of the show, they should blame the organizers.”
