‘Why I want to come back as Ifako-Ijaiye local council boss’ – Hon. Toba Oke

Former chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Hon. Oloruntoba Adetunji Oke has stated the real reason he has decided to vie for the exalted seat again after his uncompleted first tenure which ended in 2014. And come Saturday, July 22, 2017, the technocrat and politician will slug it out under the banner of All Progressives Congress with other contestants from other political platforms in the local government.
The media guru turned politician told ENCOMIUM Weekly on Friday, June 30, 2017, that he was driven by his passion for service for humanity and God which informed the need to continue where he stopped in in 2014; hence the continuity agenda which will serve as a compass towards institutionalising good governance that will in turn make Ifako-Ijaiye an enviable local government in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking further, the Apostle cum politician said, “We have our six-point agenda that will benefit all and sundry in the local government area just as we did during our first term. Although, being the first term then, we couldn’t have gotten some things right. At every first attempt, you’re not necessarily expected to get everything right but garner experiences which as rightly said, is the best teacher. And that’s the more reason I am coming again. This time around, it’s a period to put all the previous experiences together and serve the people of Ifako-ijaye better and excellently in all the areas expected of our administration. I have no doubt that I will enjoy massive support from the people of Ifako-Ijaiye having known fully that we won’t disappoint them.”
On whether he will complete all the projects the Executive Secretary of the local government was unable to execute during his administration, Oke pledged, “I assure the people of Ifako-Ijaiye there won’t be anything like abandoned project. Myself and my able team will ensure all the projects we meet on ground will be completed before embarking on new ones.”
Asked if all the members of his team during his first term will also return with him if only to ensure his continuity agenda, he reacted, “Surely, not everybody will return because some might have deviated our normal course. It’s only those that still keep up with our agenda of service to humanity which we’re known for. We can’t recall those that will thwart our efforts in giving the people of Ifako-Ijaye good governance.”
