Why petroleum products will become irrelevant tomorrow

Petrol and diesel will eventually become irrelevant in the nearest future as China, which is the number one world’s biggest vehicle market, is set to manufacture a driverless car that will no longer make use of fuel.
As a result, Nigeria is at the verge of losing her major consumer of petroleum products. This is because China is one of the highest customer of petroleum products Nigeria enjoys. If they now successful invent a car that will be mobile without fuel, that means the nation’s wealth is at stake.
However, to achieve the driver-less cars, China is considering a ban on the production and sale of fossil fuel cars as a major boost to the production of electric vehicles in-order to ease pollution. The move would follow similar plans announced by France and Britain to stop the sale of petrol and diesel cars and vans as soon as possible in order to clamp down on harmful emissions, and this will also decrease patronage for Nigeria.
According to national industry figures, the sale of new energy vehicles topped 500,000 in the world’s second-largest economy in 2016, over 50% more than the previous year. The government introduced in June a draft regulation to compel vehicle manufacturers to produce more electrically powered vehicles by 2020 through a complex quota system.
As the measure looms, foreign vehicle manufacturers have announced plans to boost the production of electric cars in China.
Volvo will introduce its first 100% electric car in China in 2019, while Ford will market its first hybrid vehicle early next year and envisions 70% of all its cars available in China will have electric options by 2025.
Though the new measure will be a welcome development but petroleum products will definitely become irrelevant in the world as China is set to achieve it in no distant time.
