Why teenagers should shun excessive drinking

New research advise that young people who drink too much are putting the brain function of their offspring at risk. Experts say heavy drinking affects the genes in the brains of future children.

Lead scientist from the Loyola University in Chicago, USA, Dr. Toni Pak, revealed that adolescent binge drinking not only is dangerous to the brain development of teenagers, but also may impact the brains of their children.

Adding that, the changes arising from non-genetic influences on gene expression could potentially put humans at risk of conditions such as depression, anxiety and metabolic disorders.
