Why we all cried at Alimi’s burial – Oduntan

Honourable Tayo Oduntan joined her colleagues in painting a colourful portrait of late Honourable Kazeem Ademola Alimi.

And she revealed why they all cried at his burial this afternoon (Wednesday, July 19) at Victoria Court Cemetery in Ibeju Lekki (Lagos)…

Where were you when you heard about Hon Alimi’s death?

I was in my constituency. I just left the hospital not quite two hours when someone called me to ask me about his death. I told the person that could not be true because I just left him two hours earlier. Though,  l was not allowed in, I was told he was responding to treatment. When a colleague now called me to inform me,  l was shocked.

What will you say you will miss about him?

I will miss his gentleness. He was gentle to a fault. You know he was working in the account department of the House when l first came in as a member in 1999. When we later became colleagues in 2011, he was still according me this same respect he gave when he was a civil servant in 1999. Were you at the burial?

No ma.

I wish you were there and see the turnout of people and many of us were crying.
