President of Theatre And Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPPAN), Dele Odule has explained the reason for the courtesy visit the association paid the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, Otunba Gani Adams a couple of days back in his Omole, Lagos home.
Speaking with encomium.ng on Saturday, November 11, 2017, the Ibadan, Oyo based actor cum film maker said the association deemed it fit to accord the new Aare Ona Kakanfo the honour as one the illustrious sons of Yoruba whose activities in projecting the culture of the race even beyond the shores of Nigeria remain unequalled.
“Yes, as an association, we visited Otunba Gani Adams recently in his house in Omole, Lagos, and we were well received. The reason for the visit was in two folds. First, as a mark of honour. That would be the first time we would be visiting him since he was declared the new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba. We also believed in his choice for the title. He really deserves it. So, he should be accorded the honour.
“Also, we used the medium to formally invite him to our national convention starting on Wednesday, November 15 and ending in Friday, November 17, 2017. The convention will kick off at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, while everything will be rounded off at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos. Governor of Lagos state, Mr Akinwumi Ambode is billed to declare the event open. So, our new Aare Ona Kakanfo is also expected to be one of our special guests that day.”
