X-raying Ambode’s cabinet

ON Monday, September 21, 2015, the Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode submitted the list of his would-be cabinet members to the state House of Assembly.

The list which was read on the floor of the House by the Clerk, Mr. Ganiyu Abiru, consists of 23 commissioners and 14 Special Advisers.

ENCOMIUM Weekly takes a look at the list vis-à-vis the profiles of some of the would-be Commissioners and Special Advisers.

 

PRINCE GBOLAHAN LAWAL is 45 years old.  He is the son of the late King of Ojora.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Masters of Science in Violence, Conflict and Development.  He was the Guard Commander to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he was the governor of Lagos State.  He was Senior Special Assistant (Special Projects) to former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola in his first term.

In Fashola’s second term, he was the Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives.

 

JIDE IDRIS is 60 years old. A medical doctor by training and profession. He was Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health in 2003 to 2007. He later became the Commissioner for Health in the same ministry from 2007 to 2015.

 

FOLARIN COKER is 50 years old. He is the immediate Special Adviser to former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola on Central Business District (CBD). He was before that appointment the Managing Director of Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority.  He was also once the Deputy Chief of Staff to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 

ENGR. GANIYU JOHNSON, is 63 years old.  He is the immediate past Special Adviser to former Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Works and Infrastructure from 2007 to 2015.  Before then, he was the Permanent Secretary in the same ministry.  Engr. Ganiyu Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Master of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering, University of Southern California, USA.

 

BABATUNDE HUNPE is 52 years old. He holds two Masters in History and Diplomacy and International Relations and Strategic Studies. He is the immediate Special Adviser to former Governor Fashola on Rural Development.

 

STEVE AYORINDE is a journalist. He was the former Managing Director of National Mirror and former Editor of The Punch Newspapers. He is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Relentless Media. He studied at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and University of Leicester, United Kingdom.

 

ALHAJA UZAMAT AKINBILE-YUSUF is 41 years old.  She is a trained pharmacist from University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos.  She is the immediate past Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Rural and Social Development, Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA.  She is also the Managing Director of Musarog Nigeria Ltd., which consists of Musarog Petroleum and Musarog Pharmaceutical.  She is a mother of four boys.

 

HON. MOBOLAJI ABDUL-HAKEEM ABDUL-LATEEF is 48 years old.  He holds LL.B and LL.M from University of Lagos, Akoka.  He was one-time a member of Lagos House of Assembly in 2003.  He was also a Special Adviser to former Governor Fashola (SAN) on Political and Legislative Matters in 2007.  He is till present the Chief Imam of Lagos House of Assembly Mosque.  He is also the Amiru Hajj of Lagos State Pilgrims to Mecca and Medina.

 

SEYE OLADEJO is 49 years old. A graduate of English Studies from University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife. He was the General Manager, Gold Link Media.  He was also the chairman of Mushin Local Government Area between 2004 and 2007.  He was the immediate past Special Adviser to former Governor Fashola (SAN) on Commerce and Industry.

 

SAMUEL BABATUNDE ADEJARE is 54 years old. A medical doctor by profession and two-term member of Lagos House of Assembly between 2003 and 2007.

He was also a member of Lagos House of Assembly between 2011 and 201

 

DAYO MOBEREOLA is the incumbent Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). He holds a Ph.D degree in Transport Economics from the University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom

 

HON. (MRS.) LOLA AKANDE is 56 years old.  She holds a Bachelor degree of Science and Masters in Public Administration.  A mother of three and immediate elder sister of Senator Oluremi Tinubu.  She was a two-term member of Lagos House of Assembly representing Ikeja Constituency II.

 

HON. (MRS.) ADEBIMPE AKINSOLA is 54 years old.  She holds a Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) and Bachelor of Arts in French.  She as in Lagos House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015 representing Ikorodu Constituency II.

 

KEHINDE BEMIGBETAN is 50 years old. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from University of Ife, Ile – Ife and Master of Science in Political Science from University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos. A veteran journalist who plied his trade with Punch Newspapers and Vanguard Newspapers, he was the Chief Press Secretary to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu between 2003 and 2007.  He was also the Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA for two terms.

 

BENJAMIN ADEYEMI OLABINJO is 57 years old. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Labour and Industrial Relations from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Ben Olabinjo Enterprises. He was the Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA from 2008 to 2014.

 

AGBOOLA DABIRI, is the former Commissioner of Lagos State Sports Council. He is also a FIFA registered players’ agent.

 

OLARENWAJU ANOFIU ELEGUSHI is 45 years old. He holds a City and Guild of London and HND from Lagos State Polytechnic. He was between 1999 and 2007 a Supervisory Councillor in Eti Osa Local Government Council and later the Chairman of the LGA from 2008 to 2014.
