YENI KUTI to represent FEMI at the Grammy Awards

– Jets out to Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 15

AFROBEAT king, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti will not be attending the Grammy Awards on Sunday, January 26, 2014, which holds at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, California, United States of America.  Rather, his elder sister, Yeni Kuti will represent him at the award ceremony.

Yeni is expected to jet out to the USA on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, to New York where she has some other things doing and then storm the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, for the grand award.  Already, expectations are on the high side this time around for the saxophonist to clinch the award after he lost out on three previous occasions.

Yeni Kuti, beaming with hope, maintained the award will be coming to Nigeria.  “Hopefully, I will come back with the Grammy Award.  The fans are already waiting to celebrate.”

The award ceremony will hold on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, United States.  Femi Kuti is nominated for the fourth time in the Best World Music Album category for his album, No Place for my Dream.  Kuti’s album was nominated in the same category as Gipsy King’s Savor Flamenco, Lady Smith Black Mambazo’s Singing for Peace Around the World and Ravi Shankar’s Living Room Sessions Part 2.”
