YOU CAN LEARN STYLE! (PART 1)

Don’t let anyone deceive you, you can learn style and make it your own.  You can acquire high taste by association and learning.  You can skip from average to well-learned and tutored in the school of soigné and elegance.  All you need to do is to be ready to acquire knowledge about style, have the patience and skills to put them into practice –and money to elevate your wardrobe to Level 1.

Who comes to this world as a Professor of Style?  No one.  You learn –from your parents and neighbours, peers and associates.  And from books, magazines and wherever knowledge about style can be found.

Who knows from birth that the last button of your waist coat is always undone?  That your jackets should be unbuttoned when you are seated?  That suspenders (braces) and belts are never worn together?  That it is better not to adorn more than three colours except you are exceptionally gifted?

In university, our adored lecturer, Dr. Olatunji Dare (now a Professor), impressed on our minds how aspiring writers mastered the craft of those they wanted to emulate by writing in long hand their published ‘works’! How they will reproduce a piece of literature of their favourite authors by copying the book, dubbing words and sentences and paragraphs in a journal.  And thereafter, the style and method can be theirs.

It is the same with style.  By watching and reading, asking questions, practicing and emulating, you can become stylish.  You can become very stylish…
