The World Health Organisation (WHO), has rated Ogun as the number one state in Nigeria as regards timely and accurate disease surveillance and reporting.
Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, disclosed this while presenting a Microsoft device, received in recognition of the state’s feats, to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, during the State Executive Council meeting yesterday.
Ipaye revealed that the award was presented at a stakeholders’ Health Forum in Enugu, organised by the W.H.O. in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Health.
He added that Ekiti and Kano states came second and third respectively in the ranking, explaining further that with the Microsoft device, the governor will now be able to monitor the health dashboard directly from his desk to assess the state’s health indices.
The governor, at the meeting, also announced the elevation of a Senior Special Assistant, Mrs. Remi Onasanya, to the position of a special adviser.
Presenting her with the letter of her elevation, after being sworn-in in accordance with the extant Civil Service rule, Amosun stated that the honour was in recognition of Onasanya’s diligence and hard work.
He hoped that the elevation would spur her and others to do more and always give their best in the service of the state.
Signed
