The music community has had an exciting couple of days following MTN Nigeria’s partnership with Apple Music which provides MTN subscribers with a 6-month trial of the streaming platform. A 6-month subscription is great, but what’s even more thrilling is that this partnership allows MTN subscribers to pay for their Apple Music subscription with airtime. Yes, you read that correctly, with an MTN SIM, you no longer need that virtual dollar card because you can now pay for your Apple Music subscription using your airtime. Social media has gone wild over this, so let’s take a look at some of the reactions, shall we?
For the skeptics who want proof that it works, a Twitter user @adheydayor confirmed that he has subscribed to the service.

We know how Nigerians like extra proof that something works, so here’s another confirmation from Facebook user James Moses James.

One of the most exciting aspects of this collaboration is how much it benefits Nigerian artists. More people will be able to stream their music, which means they will be able to earn more money. Popular music commentator @itzbasito elaborates on how beneficial this partnership is to the artists.

We’re all aware of how difficult it is to pay for Apple Music subscriptions; we’ve even gone so far as to create and use virtual dollar cards to do so. With this collaboration, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief, and twitter users @ade_adeayo and @belberocks agree.

As previously stated, this collaboration has sparked a lot of excitement in the music community. If you have an MTN SIM and want to listen to gbedu wey dey burst brain on Apple Music, you can sign up via the MTN Play portal by clicking https://play.mtn.ng/apple-music, or you can subscribe via SMS by sending “MUSIC” to 8000 or dialing 447241#.
