MTN’s GO MAD Initiative Transforms Benue State University into Entrepreneurship Hub

Benue State University came alive in a way students won’t be forgetting anytime soon as MTN Nigeria’s GO MAD (Go Make a Difference) Campus Invasion landed in Makurdi from October 15 to 17, 2025, a mix of entrepreneurship, entertainment, and endless opportunities.

For three days, the campus was transformed into a mini city of innovation. From business stalls to performances and digital raffles that kept everyone on edge.

A major highlight of the event was the giveaway segment, where Aka Elizabeth, a student of Linguistics, won a brand-new car. Other participants received laptops, tablets, and smartphones through a digital raffle system.

Beyond entertainment, the event also promoted financial literacy by encouraging participants to complete mobile transactions using MoMo, MTN’s mobile money platform. This requirement, organisers explained, was designed to help students embrace safe and convenient digital payment systems.

Speaking on the initiative, Femi Adesina, Youth Segment Manager at MTN Nigeria, said the GO MAD program was created to engage students with experiences that combine empowerment and entertainment. “The GO MAD initiative is designed to engage students across Nigerian universities by combining empowerment and entertainment. It gives young entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products, learn essential business skills, and connect with a vibrant community of their peers.”

Student feedback reflected the event’s mix of learning and enjoyment. “I really enjoyed myself; this has been an amazing experience,” said Precious Fred, one of the attendees. Vendors also described the campus invasion as a productive opportunity to promote their small businesses.

Throughout the three days, workshops on entrepreneurship and digital skills ran alongside interactive games and concerts, creating a balanced program that merged knowledge with excitement.

The Benue activation is part of the broader GO MAD Campus Invasion series, which has visited universities including the University of Abuja, Federal University of Technology Owerri, and the University of Benin. The next stops are expected to include the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Bayero University Kano, and the University of Lagos.

The initiative continues to grow as a platform that connects learning, digital engagement, and youthful creativity across Nigeria’s campuses.
