Glo honours Awujale Adetona’s legacy at 2026 Ojude Oba

Digital solutions services provider, Globacom is celebrating the memory of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona at this year’s edition of the Ojude Oba festival this year, the 21st edition the company is backing.

The edition, with the theme: “Ojude Oba 2026: Celebrating the Legacy of Oba Sikiru Adetona” is holding at the Festival Arena, opposite the royal palace in Ijebu Ode, and is celebrating the landmark achievements of the late Awujale, who joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after a glorious 65 years reign.

Globacom, in a statement in Lagos, disclosed that the commitment of Oba Adetona to the promotion of Ijebu customs, traditions and values encouraged the company to support the festival.

“For us, this year’s edition is not just about sponsoring the festival as we have done over the past twenty years. It is about celebrating the exemplary legacies of the revered father, Oba Adetona, who spared no efforts to place the festival on an enviable pedestal”, the company stated.

Oba Adetona transformed the profile of the festival and brought together more and more Ijebu sons and daughters to celebrate it, irrespective of religious differences. It was this noble royal effort that spurred Globacom to take on the sponsorship of the Ojude Oba festival 21 years ago.

Within the number of years of Globacom sponsorship, the festival has grown to become a yearly gathering attracting global attention, and guests from far and near.

Globacom affirmed that it will continue to support the festival as part of its wider focus on promoting the best of Nigerian culture on the global stage.

Oba Adetona was enthroned on April 2, 1960. He reigned for 65 years, during which the Ojude Oba festival’s profile continued to grow in leaps and bounds.
