N4.9bn Fraud: EFCC finally arraigns Fani-Kayode, 2 others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday, June 28, arraigned a former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode along with two others for allegedly laundering N4.9 billion.

Fani-Kayode was to be arraigned last Tuesday but the Judge’s absence stalled the arraignment. The Judge was said to have been away on an official function.

He is facing a 17-count charge bordering on unlawful retention, use, and payment of money in the tune of about N4.9 billion.

Others charged alongside the former minister are Nenadi Usman, former finance minister; Danjuma Yusuf; and a company, Joint Trust Dimension Nig. Ltd.

According to the EFCC’s charge, the accused were alleged to have committed the offences between January and March 2015.
