Congratulations on your new born baby?
Thank you so much, sir. God bless you.
How does it feel now that you’re a mother?
It feels so great. I am particularly happy about it. It’s not an easy task to be a mother. I give God all the glory. Above all, I thank Him for the safe delivery.
How would you describe the pain of delivery?
It was traumatic. It’s not a laughing matter. It’s a thing of life and death. But it’s the prayer of every woman to experience it. Going through the pain is something you can’t finish narrating. Without the pain, you can’t have the baby. Any mistake at that period can lead to an expected circumstance which will even be more painful in the long run.
But I thank God that whatever I might have passed through in the labour room that period has become a success story for me and my family. I am a very happy person now that I am carrying my baby. It’s a thing of joy. There was no complication at all. I thank God for that.
How would you further describe the joy of motherhood?
Words can’t be enough to describe that. Just like I said, being a mother is not an easy task. But what makes you happy is the fact that the purpose you suffered turned positive. My joy is limitless.
How would you describe the experience carrying the pregnancy for nine months?
My brother, that alone was a lot of work. Not only work but very stressful. It’s a great experience that every woman should pass through. As a woman, you don’t need to be told. It’s when you experience it that you can appreciate your mother further.
I thank God I am counted among those that can share that kind of experience. It was tough but worth the while.
Can we say you’re now a fulfilled woman?
Yes, of course. As a woman and mother, I am very much fulfilled. I can now be bold enough to say I am a mother. The joy is enormous. It’s not by my power but by His grace. All those who are looking unto God will also have their prayers answered soon. They will all have every reason to be joyous like I am presently.
Where and when exactly was the baby born?
My baby was born at County Hospital, Ogba, Lagos. That was on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. It’s a special offer by God because I was also born in April.
The naming ceremony has taken place and we learnt it held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, why?
Yes, the naming ceremony held in Ijebu Ode on Sunday, May 11, 2014. The reason is that my husband is from Ijebu Ode and he prefers the naming done at home. It was a very big party. I thank God for everything. I am also using this medium to expressly show my appreciation to all those that came from far and near to identify and rejoice with us.
Tell us your baby’s names.
He was given many names by a lot of people. But I will only give you a few of them. He was christened Inaolaji Emmanuel, Ayomipo, Oluwademilade, the son of Okunnowo. My husband’s name is Segun Okunnowo.
How does your husband feel now that you have given him a baby boy?
He feels great and joyous. He was so happy that day to be a father and when he was told the baby was a boy, his joy doubled. Inaolaji is a fine boy. He’s a striking resemblance of his daddy. I am so happy about that.
What’s going to happen to your career and business now?
There are three things involved now – my baby, career and business. I don’t think they can clash. But first, I must face my baby. That’s my biggest business for now. Concerning my acting career, everything about that is suspended for now until the next six months, at least I must have enough time to do breast feeding and if I am not around, I won’t be able to do that.
Then for my boutique, I have people taking care of that for me already. So, that aspect can’t suffer. Everything will definitely keep moving whether or not I am around. Although, very soon, I will return to Lagos.
How many more children do you wish to have for your husband?
As it pleases God. All I want is to be a good mother. I want God to bless me with lovely children.
But you’re yet to formalize your marriage to Segun Okunnowo, you only had an introduction in February 2014. Why the delay?
It’s true we have not formalized our union since we did introduction on Sunday, February 3, 2014, but that does not stop us from acting or living as husband and wife. We know the reason for not doing that. But we’re planning to do it at God’s appointed time.
What’s the experience like now living together with your husband?
It’s a good and wonderful experience. It’s a thing of joy when you’re married to your friend. Someone that can be described as your brother and your father. Someone that can be there for you all the time. I don’t regret marrying him. He is a wonderful man to be with.
