Africa ‘not ready’ for Ebola drug – Obama

United States’ (US) president, Barack Obama, has said that it is too soon to send the experimental serum – ZMapp – to treat the deadly Ebola virus to Africa, adding that focus should be on improving facilities and sending more aid workers to the affected region.

Two Americans were said to have improved after being given the drug while still in Liberia, according to the group they were working for, but it remains unclear whether the drug was responsible.

ZMapp is made by a company in San Diego and had never been tested on humans, after it was discovered as a possible treatment in January.
