Captain Phillips actor jailed for vicious assault which left man brain-damaged

A British actor who played the role of a Somali pirate in the 2013 flick Captain Phillips has been jailed for a brutal 2013 attack on a man which left him brain-damaged.

Mohammed Abdi (27) was part of a mob that ambushed rivals as they came out of takeaways in Manchester (England), with the victim being battered to the point that he suffered a brain haemorrhage back in March 2013.

He was given a two-and-a-half year jail term for the ‘deplorable’ attacks by Judge Martin Rudland at Manchester Crown Court. His accomplices Mohammed Omar Ali (33) and Hamid Hassan (27) were jailed for two years after admitting GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm).
