Celebrities on New Year resolutions

At the beginning of the year, people take decisions on how to be better persons. Some pledge to drop old habits, while others resolve to change their lifestyle. ENCOMIUM Weekly asked Nigerian celebrities their New Year resolutions…

‘I will concentrate more on my career’ – ANGELA OKORIE (Actress)

Yes, I do. It helps you do away with old unwanted things in your life. I don’t really have resolutions but I will work on myself in terms of acting. I will concentrate more on my career. Also unleashing a part of me that people have not seen

‘I don’t make resolutions…’ – JOHN NJAMAH (Actor)

No, I don’t make resolutions, rather I have projections. Growing up as a child our parents, we used to have such. But I realized that people put all their eggs in one basket in the name of resolutions. So, what I do, I make projections for the year, which I break into two parts. I have projections for the first six months and the second six months.

‘I don’t make New Year resolutions’ – CHARLES NOVIA (Movie director/producer)

No, I don’t make New Year resolutions. Every day is a new day and I take every day as they come.

‘I will improve myself this year’ – BELINDA EFFAH (Actress)

Not quite. I believe you have to be true to yourself when it comes to New Year resolutions. You make them, you break them. Maturity has taught me that you should try to improve yourself everyday and not
wait till a New Year to change a habit as the idea of a New Year resolution is to change a bad habit.

I think it is needless, if I want to change something about me, I’d start today, I’d start now, not wait till the New Year.

‘I set my goals” – D Don (Comedian)

I don’t believe in New Year resolutions but I set my goals.

‘I want to impact the world’ – Doris Simeon (Actress)

I have a lot of New Year resolution but most especially to improve my work and career and to impact the world.

‘I want to please God this year’ – ROTIMI MAKINDE (Politician)

My resolution is to do things that will please God and expand my constituency and satisfy myself as well.

‘It all depends on your plans for the year’ – BOB MANUEL UDOKWU (Actor)

People make those resolutions for making sake. Resolutions can be made anytime or any day within the year. To me, it is best you plan by February or past October. It all depends on your plans for the year.

‘To work on the ones I could not achieve in 2014…’ – LEYE ADESHILE Kuti (Actor)

Yes, because it helps every reasonable person that wants his New Year plan on a mega platform. It helps to set priorities right. To work on the ones I could not achieve in 2014 and add little this year.

‘To be better this year’ – ADUNNI ADEWALE (Actress)

To be a better Adunni.

‘I wish a blessed and prosperous year’ – HARRYSONG (Artiste)

I would not say a No or a Yes because at the beginning of every year, we all have something special that we want God to do for us but at the same time, if it is not yet time for you to have that special thing, God would not grant it until His own appointed time. But all the same, I wish a blessed and prosperous year both in my personal life and my music.

‘I want to be a better person’ – CHRIS OKAGBUE

I don’t believe in New Year resolution. I thrive to be a better person year in year out, I also thrive to be better in what I do every year.

‘I want to be more focused this year’ – SAIDI BALOGUN (Actor)

Yes, I believe in New Year resolution because whatever you ask from God is what He will do for you. So, you also need to be positive and pray towards it. My resolution this year is to be focused and lead The Golden Movies Ambassador of Nigeria (TGMAN) to a greater height that no one can ever imagine.

‘I will abide by God’s directive this year’ – KIKELOMO KUOJO (Actress)

Yes, of course. But one also needs to be very prayerful about it. Left to me, I have chosen to turn my career around this year. And I will abide by God’s directive about everything concerning it.

‘Make more money than ever’ – DANNY YOUNG (Artiste)

My resolution for 2015 is to be more successful. Make more money than ever, touch more lives, support and help the needy.

Yes, I believe in New Year resolution. And my New Year resolution is to love God more than ever before. I know I can only achieve this by His grace.

‘I’ve resolved to pursue my dream with no apologies’ – OMA NNADI

There is nothing wrong with New Year resolutions. For me, I want to pursue my dream without minding people’s opinion. And since it’s my life, I have no apologies for anybody. That’s my New Year resolution.
