Deji Tinubu’s last moments on football pitch

Deji Tinubu, the special adviser on commerce, industry and cooperatives to Lagos governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, who died on Thursday, January 25, 2018, was his team’s utility player before he slumped on the football pitch.

Insiders at the retreat of Lagos cabinet members and permanent secretaries at Jubilee Chalets, Epe (Lagos) where he slumped revealed that the 53-year-old gentleman actually delayed the 7-a-side match between cabinet members and permanent secretaries.
Encomium.ng learnt that Deji Tinubu was with the governor and the commissioner for commerce, industry and cooperatives when the match was scheduled for kick off.
When they left the governor, Tinubu joined his teammates (cabinet members) at the flood-lit pitch, and the match started.
It was in the second-half of the match, about ten minutes to the end of the game, around  7:30 pm, that he slumped. He shouted, “Ha” before he collapsed.
And the medics rushed to his side, tried to resuscitate him to no avail.
An ambulance took him to Epe General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
At the time the match was abandoned, the team of permanent secretaries led by 1-0.
Deji Tinubu was described as the fittest amongst his colleagues as he regularly played football every week.
