Glo-sponsored African Voices profiles Nigerian, Ugandan athletes

Two change agents who have distinguished themselves in athletics will be the special guests on this week’s edition of CNN African Voices Changemakers sponsored by total telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom.

According to Globacom which released a statement in this regard, the sports stars are Nigeria’s Uche Eke, an Olympic medal hopeful, and Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei who has set  multiple records in long distance races. 

A graduate of computer engineering of the University of Michigan, America, Eke’s ambition is to become Nigeria’s first Olympic gymnast. He is already working hard to achieve the desire as he won Nigeria’s first-ever gold medal on pommel horse and a bronze medal on parallel bars at the 2019 All-African Games in Rabat, Morocco. 

On the other hand,  Cheptegei works with the Uganda National Police. He won the 10,000 meters world championship race in 2019, and also has a record as the tenth man in history to hold the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters world records concurrently.

The programme is broadcast on CNN, (DSTV channel 401) at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday with repeats at 4.30 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. on Sunday and at 4 a.m. on Monday. There are also two 15-minute parts on Tuesday at 6.45 p.m. and on Wednesday at 6.45 p.m.
