– As Phyno, Sound Sultan, Gordons stun

Lagos with spectacular finale of The Rush

The final leg of the Amstel Malta Showtime series, held on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the University of Lagos Indoor Sports Hall, Lagos, is undoubtedly the most brilliant display of art in this part of the world in recent times.

Celebrated and popular Nigerian entertainers, Sound Sultan, Phyno, Gordons, and a host of other entertainers took Lagos by storm with their exceptionally superb performances of the night.

The stars featured in the Lagos edition, the first of its kind concert drama, which was a fusion of artistic displays by ballerinas, singers, actors, fire eaters, jugglers, dancers, rappers, instrumentalists, comedians, put together to tell the story of a young man’s journey to success in a brilliant theatrical piece.

Also performing alongside these stars were 5 young talents selected via auditions: Singing duo (male and female); Instrumentalist duo (a violinist and a guitarist), a dance team of four, a comedian and a rapper.  Like the Enugu edition, a few other young talents who also impressed the judges but didn’t make it to the top five slots, got the chance to perform during the show that saw students of the institution thronged the sport arena in multitude.

Winning Talent(Comedian)- Emmanuel‘I am happy to be celebrated’  -comedian, EMMANUEL

It feels great to be among the winners. I feel elated. I want to thank Amstel for the opportunity, because I have been doing comedy for a while, but there was nobody to sponsor me, until I heard about the Showtime. I entered the competition and here I am today being celebrated. I am happy. With this victory, I believe this is the beginning of good things to happen in my life.

Winning talent(Rapper)- Fresh‘I was optimistic I would win’ -Rapper, FRESH

I feel happy. It’s a sweet victory for me. I thank God for the success, although it was tough. At first I didn’t see myself winning, because there were so many singers at the audition, but I was optimistic that I would make it. I believe I have what it takes to be a star, and compete at a bigger platform. Right now, I will be doing a collabo with few artistes I have met, from where I will kick off my career professionally. I want to thank Amstel for the opportunity.

Winning Talent(singer)-Ifeoma‘I will be the biggest female act’ -singer, IFEOMA

I am feeling high, I am short of words because this is a turning point in my career. I am happy and grateful to God. I have been singing since 11, I decided to go professional last year, and luckily for me, I emerged winners. I have the talents, I believe it helps me to get to this level of my career. I have been able to learn more. Nigerians should watch out for me, because I am going to be one of the biggest female acts in the industry. With the platform Amstel has given me, I am ready to storm the industry with lovely songs.

Winning Talent(Dancer)- Tolu‘Dancing is a gift from God’ – Dancer, TOLU

I don’t know how to describe the feelings right now. I just want to give glory to God. It’s an awesome experience. I am so happy, not because I am part of the winners (she won in the dancing category) but I have been able to learn a lot. Dancing is what I do; I didn’t learn it anywhere, I believe it’s a gift from God.

I felt I won’t qualify when I saw better choreographers during the audition. It’s all a success story now; kudos to Amstel. From here, I will keep on developing myself, so that I can become a better dancer in the future.

Winning Talent( Dancer)- Emmanuel‘It is a success story now’ – singer, ANTWON

I feel elated. I am happy to be among the winners of Amstel Malta Showtime. It is a dream come true. I dedicate the victory to God. A friend of mine told me about it. I participated, although it was tough, I made it. It is a success story now. Right now, I will continue with my study because education is very important. But that won’t stop me from recording songs. Shouts out to Amstel Malta. God bless the officials.
