INSIDE DRAMATIC WEDDING OF RMD’S 29 YEAR-OLD SON

Gov. Uduaghan, Star Actors Lend Support

 

ONE of the children of actor and Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe Damijo, Kome got engaged in grand style to his lover, Eniola Oluwafunmilayo, on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at The Grandeur Event Centre, Oregun, Lagos.

ABOUT KOME AND ENIOLA MOFE-DAMIJO

Oghenekome Rena Mofe Damijo is the son of award winning actor and Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe-Damijo.  Kome is one of the children he had before he (RMD) married the late May Ellen Ezekiel.  Kome’s mother is Mrs. Esther Etinaebedia.  She is from Ekiti State and a businesswoman.  Kome was educated here in Nigeria and Canada.

Eniola Oluwafunmilayo, on the other hand is the daughter of businessman, Mr. Oladipupo Babatunde Abiodun and Mrs. Elizabeth Abimbola Abiodun.

 

THEIR LOVE STORY

The couple, who spoke to ENCOMIUM Weekly, revealed the journey actually started in a church.  Kome and Eniola met at Reverend Chris Okotie’s Household of God Church, Lagos.  They were students at the Sunday School where they became friends. They went their separate ways in pursuit of their education and later reunited at RMD’s 50th bash years back from where they picked it up and decided to take it further.  Kome is 29 while Eniola is 27.

 

AT THE ENGAGEMENT CEREMONY

Kome and Eniola Mofe-Damijo were engaged at a lavish ceremony on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at The Grandeur Event Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.  The colour of the day was white and shades of pink which was widely complied with.

 

FOLUSO OGUNJIMI AND HER CREW

The engagement ceremony was handled by the expert in that area, Mrs. Foluso Ogunjimi, former newscaster with LTV 8.  Very well on point when it comes to service delivery, Sokoyokoto, as she is fondly called, alongside her crew, did a wonderful job.

 

JUMOBI MOFE-DAMIJO AS THE CHIEF ORGANISER

Richard Mofe-Damijo’s wife, Jumobi played a perfect hostess.  Being the groom’s stepmother, she was on her feet dishing out instructions now and then.

 

THE BIG MAN FOR THE BIG OCCASION

Warri millionaire, Ayiri Emami was the big man for the occasion. The Niger Delta man was in an all white ensemble with his traditional staff of office.  He was at the event alongside his numerous aides.  He, however, disappointed many who swarmed around him upon his departure as he didn’t give out any cash.  He rode in a black Range Rover Sport with registration number AY 911 RI.

 

TOBI OYELAKIN’S DAY OF FUN

Delectable wife of comedian Teju Babyface, Tobi shared in the couple’s day of joy with beautiful dance steps and backslapping. Her husband, Teju who is very close to the Mofe-Damijos was the compere.

 

ENTERTAINERS REGROUP

There were in attendance Norbert and Gloria Young, Chico Ejiro, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Tessy Yembra and a host of others, who all rallied round one of their own.

 

BONIX LEADS ON ALL FRONT

Bonix, the popular party drinks provider, was the official drinks supplier.  As usual, the head honcho of that enterprise, Bola was at the venue to supervise her staff. Exotic wines, champagnes and others were on parade.

THE newly-wed had many important dignitaries gracing their joyous day.  From the start of the ceremony to the end, they were a picture of elegance. From their seat to the dance floor many shared in their joyous moment.

Shortly after settling down in their gazebo, the couple briefly spoke about their love story.

Starting from the delectable Eniola Oluwafunmilayo: “We met in church here in Nigeria some years ago and since then we thank God where we are right now.”

When asked to reveal what attracted him (Kome) to her, she replied, “He is the finest man I have ever seen, gentle and God fearing.”

Oghenekome, who took over, eulogized his better half and praised her to the high heavens: “I love her very much and that is the beginning and end of everything.”

He also revealed his expectations for the union, which is fruitfulness, love and togetherness forever.

 MRS. Esther Etinaebedia was on the dance floor all through the ceremony.  She told us her joy knows no bound.

 

There is no doubt you are on top of the world?

Yes, I don’t know how to describe my joy.  Glory be to God. I am very happy for this day to have come.

As a mother what will be your advice to the newly-wed?

To be each other’s friends, love each other. I pray they enjoy their marriage with long life and prosperity, many children will surround their table.

Is Kome your first child?

Yes, my one and only son.

What will you say to his father, RMD?

I don’t know how to thank him for taking good care of him from childhood till now.  I pray that the Almighty God continue to bless him, take him higher to greater heights.

Are you married to another person now?

Yes, I am married.  I want to use this medium to thank his wife, Jumobi for her love and care.  She is one person I really appreciate.  I say thank you to her, I pray they stay together forever.

 MOTHER of the bride, Mrs. Elizabeth Abimbola Abiodun works with the Lagos State government.  She spoke about the beautiful occasion.

 

How will you describe the feeling around here today?

It’s a feeling of love, fulfillment.  Two families coming together as one, it’s a wonderful feeling to have witnessed it all.

What is your advice to the newly-wed?

They should be enduring, love each other, trust God and it will be well with them.

How will you describe your in-law?

I love them, they are wonderful.

Tell us briefly about yourself.

I am Mrs. Elizabeth Abimbola Abiodun.  I work with the Lagos State Government, Governor’s Office, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos as an Administrative Officer.

What would you consider as the secret of a successful marriage?

Patience, love.  You have to love your husband even when things are not right, love him. Remember what you promise at the beginning for better and for worse.

 FATHER of the beautiful bride, Mr. Oladipupo Babatunde Abiodun was more than joyous on the occasion of his daughter’s wedding.  He was on his feet all through.

 

How would you like to advice the newly-wed?

They must live for God, let God take control of their affairs and everything will be well with them.

What’s your impression about how the ceremony went?

You can see that God has been good to us, everything went well according to plan.

What will you say about the Mofe-Damijos your in-law?

RMD is a wonderful man. He is from a well respected family and I really appreciate them.

How will you describe your daughter?

She is wonderful, she is my first daughter, she has other siblings.  I am happy for her today and I pray the marriage be fruitful in all things.

What do you consider as the secret of a successful marriage?

There is no secret other than love and friendship and above all put God first and things will be well with your marriage.

Short takes from the MOFE-DAMIJO, ABIODUN wedding

FAMILY and friends of the Mofe-Damijos and the Abioduns regrouped on Saturday, December 14, 2013, for their children’s solemnization of holy matrimony.  Oghenekome and Eniola Mofe-Damijo were joined in holy matrimony at The Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, after which the party moved to The Grandeur Event Centre, Oregun, Lagos.

 

THE SOLEMNIZATION OF HOLY MATRIMONY

Oghenekome and Eniola Mofe-Damijo were joined in holy matrimony at The Chapel of Christ the Light (interdenominational) Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.  Families and friends of both families stepped out for the proceeding which lasted for two hours (10.30 to 12.30 p.m).

 

OFFICIATING MINISTERS

Reverend Femi Taiwo, the church’s chaplain and Reverend Dr. D. K. Verralis, presiding chaplain, supervised the wedding.

 

DELTA GOVERNOR AND EXCOS STORM LAGOS

Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and his wife, Mrs. Roli Uduaghan led the state executive to the Mofe-Damijo, Abiodun wedding on Saturday, December 14, 2013.  Others on the list of Delta powerful men and women included Mrs. Noni Uthama, wife of the Deputy Governor, Amaju Pinick, Omasan Buwa and others.  While the governor left for other business, his excos partied all night at the reception.

 

MORE ENTERTAINERS MADE IT

The list of entertainers who honoured the couple swelled on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the wedding solemnization.  In attendance to rejoice with the couple were Fidelis Duker, Emeka Ossai and wife, Jumai, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha, Rosemary Ingbi, Ego Boyo, Ayo Makun, Bovi Ugboma and others.

 

THE CAR THE COUPLE RODE IN

The newly-wed rode in a black BMW X6 car.  The executive automobile was their official car for the day, there were other cars in their convoy.

 

NO INVITE, NO ENTRY

The ‘No invite, No entry’ directive was fully enforced at the reception venue.  Guests who stormed The Grandeur Event Centre, Oregun, Lagos, without their invite were stranded on the street.  Those who couldn’t wait in the sun left the venue while others found their way in later in the night.

 

ROSTAL FLOWERS RECREATES BEAUTIFUL AMBIENCE

Décor company, Rostal Flowers and Accessories was responsible for the beautiful ambience.  The couple’s gazebo was first class.  The lights, props, dance floor, confetti blast, pyrotechnics and other mood lights soothed many hearts.

 

ENITAN ALLEN REJOINS HIGH SOCIETY

Enitan Allen, who had twin babies recently has returned to the social scene.  The delectable woman, who wore the aso ebi of champagne and red cloth without a partner, leaving many wondering who could have been the man in her world after parting ways with Col. Bamgboye, former Kwara military administrator.

 

STEPHANIE OKOTIE MOVES ON

Stephanie Okotie, estranged wife of Household of God Church pastor, Chris Okotie has moved on and put behind her the debacle which resulted in her leaving her matrimonial home. The beautiful woman, who was at the engagement on Thursday, December 12, 2013, also made it to the church wedding on Saturday, December 14, 2013.  Looking contented and refreshed, she was at home at the ceremonies.

 

OMASAN BUWA COMES OF AGE

Former beauty queen, Omasan Buwa is coming of age.  Though she still carries the aura of gorgeousness, she’s aging gracefully.  Omasan Buwa, who was the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 1988 is presently one of the aides of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State.

 

TAYO ALAKIU, RHODA EWEKA WAX STRONGER

The love between socialite, Tayo Alakiu and his lover, Rhoda Eweka is waxing stronger by the day. There appears no event nowadays without the two lovebirds.  They made it to the Mofe-Damijo-Abiodun wedding and left many with the conviction that things are going on well with them.

 

TOKUNBO EKO, YEMISI ALUFA INSEPARABLE

These two jolly good friends, Tokunbo Eko and Yemisi Alufa attend events together and sometimes in the identical attires.  Olori Tokunbo Eko, who is the elder sister of the groom’s stepmother, Jumobi Mofe-Damijo brought her good friend, Princess Yemisi Alufa to the ceremony.

 

STREET URCHINS LAID AMBUSH

These unwanted guests at every event, street urchins a.k.a area boys, stormed the wedding in their numbers.  They laid ambush at the entrance of the reception venue where they begged motorists for money.  Those who were lucky smiled home with cash and other freebies.

 

PARTY ALL NIGHT

At around 5.30 p.m, when Faith Band stopped music, the DJ took over and it was party all night. Many of the guests returned to the dance floor and moved and swayed to music of yesteryears and today. Till around 8 p.m guests were still at the event.
