Following the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidates, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode as Lagos governor-elect, Lagosians have identified areas they want him to address, after his inauguration on May 29, 2015.
From continuity with the excellent performance of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to developing infrastructure, our respondents tasked Ambode to create a better Lagos.
‘Ambode should create jobs’ – MIKE PAM
First, I congratulate Mr. Ambode for his victory at the poll. My advice is he should create jobs for Lagosians. There’s so much unemployment in the land. And I think the new administration should encourage local industries to spring up.
Ambode should also create the enabling environment for business to thrive. He equally has to look into other areas like infrastructure and health that require attention.
‘It’s time to enthrone a social welfare system’ – KELECHI EMETOLE
There is need to enthrone a social welfare system for Lagos residents. Here, you are either rich or poor. And there’s no support for the weak. This is very important for APC to address.
‘Ambode should treat workers well’ – EMEKA NWOSU
I congratulate Ambode on his well-deserved victory. My main agenda for him is to remember the workers.
‘He should provide affordable houses for people’ – AKINOLA OLAYINKA
I would like Ambode, among other things to see to the housing issue in the state. It seems there are more people in the state than the houses available, so I think he should invest in housing to provide good and affordable houses for people.
I learnt that state governments can provide power for their states. If so, I would like Ambode to invest in power generation in the state. It would solve a lot of problems and even create more internal revenue for the state.
‘I want him to do the right thing for the benefit of those that voted him’ – MR. CHRISTOPHER ETIM
I’m happy for Ambode’s victory. I want him to do the right thing for the benefit of those that voted him. And he should try and make life very easy for the commercial drivers and also talk to LASMA people, there is to control traffic not to arrest which I think the government did not asked them to do so. They give bad name to the government.
‘He should create more employment opportunities’ – FEMI SOLOMON
He should create more employment opportunities, repair roads most especially on the mail land. He should work on the education sector.
‘I want him to improve on what Fashola has done’ – FUNKE ADEBISI
I want him to improve on what Fashola has done. But they shouldn’t waste money again on planting flowers. He should ensure house rent is on the minimal, it is sky rocketing, he should reduce tax, it is getting burdensome.
