‘It’s just a metaphor’ -Manager, Efe Omorogbe

In what was adjudged the tweet of the day, pop star, 2Face Idibia on Monday, June 16, 2014, tweeted:

“No be prick we come measure 4 here o! So, no dey involve me 4 dt kind talk, abeg.”

Tweeted from his handle @2faceidibia, it generated heated controversy as many took exception to a responsible father of seven promoting immorality on the social platform.

In fact, the tweet went viral with several retweets and negative reactions when it circulated on Facebook and blogs.

But it wasn’t all criticism for the humble mega star. Not a few scolded his critics, arguing he is human and can express himself to reflect his mood.

“2Face na my guy for life. He’s human. He meant no harm,” one of his super fans posted on Facebook.

“There is nothing wrong with his tweet as far as I am concerned. It’s only that there are so many jobless Nigerians who talk about anything not minding their business,” said, yet another commentator.

Similarly, 2Face Idibia’s manager, Efe Omorogbe rose in his defence when ENCOMIUM Weekly reached out to him on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Speaking on behalf of Hypertek boss (2Face), the Now Muzik CEO said he would be surprised if the multiple award-winning artiste just woke up to put the so-called immoral tweet.

“I’m not aware of any immoral tweet like you pointed out. But if indeed it’s what you just said, that shouldn’t be a serious topic. It’s not an ego tripping thing. It’s basically a metaphor. And it shouldn’t be taken literarily.

“It’s like one saying, I don’t really have your time. I am more occupied with more serious issues.”

Efe Omorogbe who promised to get back to us after getting a word or two from 2Face Idibia didn’t honour his word before we went to press.

We also couldn’t reach his media minder, Bayo Omisore, whose mobile phone was switched off when we called that same Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Loved, cherished and adored by millions of fans across the globe, 2Face has been a factor in the new generation Nigerian music for over a decade. He is credited with many songs including his monstrously popular hit track, African Queen.

He staged a listening party for his sixth album (Scoops and Pictures) on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Ariz Bar and Grill, Victoria Island, Lagos. It had in attendance entertainment heavy weights such as Kenny Ogungbe, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Olisa Adibua, Kwame, amongst others.

The album features Vector, Iceberg, Slim, Machel Montano (Trinidad), Kim (France), Fally Ipupa (DRC), Hypertek label mates, Dammy Krane, Rocksteady, Sir Victor Uwaifo and ROC Nation’s Bridget Kelly.

Though legally married to only one wife, Annie Macaulay Idibia, an actress, five of his children are from two different women.

He is also allegedly romantically linked to other ladies who don’t necessarily have children for him.

His casual reference to a private part a week ago, which reminded his critics of his obsession with sex symbols, had sparked off outrage now seen from divergent points of view.
