More details emerge on murdered Redeemed evangelist Eunice Elisha

Following the horrific murder of 42-year-old The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) clergy and mother of seven, Pastor Eunice Elisha, a Muslim cleric under whose instruction five young men ‘chased away’ the deceased has been arrested in Abuja.

The Islamic leader whose name has not been made public admitted that he asked that the woman be ‘chased away’ but that he didn’t orchestrate her murder; five others have been arrested in connection with the murder. She was murdered on Saturday, July 9 around 5:30 am.

Out of the suspects taken for questioning by the police, six of them have been released while two more are still being held to reveal the truth behind the massacre.

Anjuguri Manzah, a spokesman of Abuja Police command mentioned that the police are working hard to bring to book the murderers and the outcome will be made public soon.

The reason for taking the preacher’s life is still not clear as she was said to have been preaching within the area in the last 16 years.

A young man, who claims to be a cousin to the deceased, was seen on the street of Ibadan displaying a poster urging the government to raise up and act; the poster also had on it “our co-existence is negotiable”.

Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the vice president (Prof YEMI Osinbajo) yesterday visited the widower, Pastor Elisha and his family members in Abuja around 1.30 pm to express her condolence.

As a follow up to his wife’s visit, the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, today, July 12, visited the family in Kubwa, Abuja.

The Chairman of the Bwari Area Council, Hon Musa Dikko, has also visited the late preacher’s family.

Many church members have been at the residence to share in the Elishas present grief.

Pastor Eunice corpse is still at the mortuary where it was taken to after it was identified by her husband on Saturday, July 9.
