– THE DETAILS OF THEIR WARRI ENGAGEMENT PARTY
One of Nigeria leading female singers, Omawumi Megbele, who has kept the identity of her baby-father so close to her chest has finally unveiled the lucky man.
This was done last week, when the handsome young man, Tosin Yusuf proposed to the beautiful singer. Omawumi, we reliably gathered, didn’t think twice before she said, “Yes, I do” to her ideal man.
Shortly after the event, the singer’s best friend, Waje broke the news on social media (twitter), with pictures of the newly engaged-couple and their child, Emmanuela Kamilla, who clocked 3 on June 17, 2014.
An industry source told ENCOMIUM Weekly that it was a dream come true for the first runner-up of the 2007 Idol West Africa, who has been expecting such a memorable moment for a while.
Omawumi had earlier hinted us that she would probably get married next year, saying, “We might do a location wedding or a local wedding. Warri is a good destination.”
The journey to holy matrimony between the lovers began on Saturday, September 13, 2014, when Tosin Yusuf invited few friends and family members to Omawumi’s family home in Warri, Delta State, where he formally sought her hand in marriage.
The mother of one child didn’t pick our calls or respond to our SMS when we made efforts to congratulate her on Sunday, September 14, 2014. However, we were told, it was a colourful party attended by the couple’s friends and family.
One of the guests at the party in Warri who spoke with ENCOMIUM Weekly on the condition of anonymity said, “Yes, I can tell you authoritatively that Omawumi has quit spinsterhood for good. We were in Warri yesterday (Saturday, September 13) for the engagement, barely days she accepted Tosin’s proposal. It was fun. I am happy for her.”
The source, however, disagreed with the insinuation that the engagement was secret. “What is secret about it? It’s not supposed to be attended by all. It’s an engagement, not white wedding. It’s for the couple’s family and close pals alone. Bad belle people should keep their mouths shut.”
For Omawumi and Tosin Yusuf, it all started like a Kele Kele Love. Since the talented singer parted ways with her music producer ex-boyfriend, Dr. Frabz years ago, she has succeeded in keeping everything about her love life away from public domain. Little wonder many didn’t know much about Mr. Yusuf, one of the co-owners of Zamunda Bar in Ikoyi, Lagos, until recently.
There were reports linking the If You Ask Me crooner to different men. Her pregnancy tale also sparked controversies. It all started like a rumour until it was confirmed. Omawumi welcomed her first child on Friday, June 17, 2011, around 9.00am at the Rockdale Medical Centre, Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America, all on the bill of the then “mysterious” man in the life of the famous singer.
The handsome dude loves Omawumi so dearly that he didn’t only accept her and the new baby, Emmanuella Kamillah, he promised to be with the talented musician in time of need, which he has been doing. Until now, Yusuf has been playing the role of a father and husband to Kamillah and Omawumi recently. He’s instrumental to the successes Omawumi has achieved today as an artiste.
Omawumi cannot do without thanking the man who has transformed her entire life and career in every interview she has granted. Although, she has never disclosed the person of Tosin Yusuf, all she would say was, I am grateful to daddy Kamillah for all he has done or Baba Kamillah is an understanding person, among others, until last week, when they both decided to put an end to the secret love that lasted for four years.
Little or nothing is known about Tosin Yusuf, but Omawumi, a Law graduate from Ambrose Alli University, came to limelight, following a spectacular performance at the 2007 edition of the West African Idols, a reality TV show, where she emerged first runner-up.
The following year, she won the Hip-Hop World Next Rated, the award which came with 2009 model of Kia Optima car. She has since remained a big name in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
