RCCG’s City of David builds over N2 b Trinity Tower – Assures, ‘It would be completed in record time’

CITY of David, one of The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s regional headquarters, is building over N2 billion edifice. And they are determined to complete the wondrous structure in record time.

Trinity Towers (as the mega building is called) is directly opposite City of David’s expansive church along, Oniru Estate, off Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.  It also borders Art Hotel, a hospitality facility managed by Dream Spaces Development.

The developers promote Trinity Towers as Nigeria’s first integrated multi-purpose family centre with luxury office space, a mall, recreation infrastructure, among others.

ENCOMIUM Weekly was reliably informed that a reputable construction firm and international real estate consultants (Estate Links) have already been contracted to see to a hitch-free execution of the capital intensive mega project.

In fact, when our reporter called at the site on Saturday, July 4, 2015, construction equipment and materials for the job had started arriving. The property has also been barricaded off the prying eyes of the public, with banners adorning images of the towers conspicuously displayed there.

From all indications, members of RCCG’s City of David are indeed ready to actualize their dream of the tower that would have no rival in the neighbourhood.  Hence, their determination to fund the project with their God-given resources.

Posts on their official Facebook page on Saturday Sunday, July 11 and 12, 2015, alluded to Trinity Towers.

“Haggai 2:4: We declare and confess, Trinity Towers shall be built and completed in record time, we shall be strong, alert and courageous for The Lord will help us, in Jesus Name.

  1. Joshua 1:5, 9. Romans 8:31 :- We declare and confess, no personality or group of people will be able to stop the work on Trinity Towers, for The Lord has commanded us to be strong, vigorous, and very courageous as we build for The Lord, in Jesus Name.

“Isaiah 41:10, 13: Father as we embark on the building project, strengthen our finances, for every one that is committed to the building of Trinity Towers, send help to us, let there be an overflow of financial resources into our hands, in Jesus name,” the RCCG faithful said in their numerous inspiring messages.

Pastor-Idowu-IluyomadeWe further learnt that City of David has a handful of RCCG’s richest men.

Some of Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s active wealthy members here include, billionaire mogul and Chairman of Zenith Bank, Mr. Jim Ovia, son of former Anambra Governor, Mr. Emeka Etiaba, SAN, among other men and women of means. The Regional Pastor, Idowu Iluyomade is also said to be an oil tycoon.

MORE ABOUT CITY OF DAVID

City of David is a model parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), one of the largest and fastest growing Pentecostal churches in the world.

RCCG started in 1952 with just 12 members but has grown into a mega church with parishes spread across the five continents of the world under the leadership of Pastor E.A Adeboye and his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye.

In 1992, a new parish of RCCG called Freedom Hall, was set up under the headship of Pastor Tony Rapu. It was a Model Parish in RCCG and it attracted young professionals and students.

City of David, an offshoot of Freedom Hall, started in October 1996, with less than 100 workers. It was led by Pastor Eskor Mfon, who was assisted by Pastor Ben Akabueze, the immediate past Lagos Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.

Between 1996 and 2002, the City of David held services at the Lagoon Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos. The church grew rapidly within a few years, holding two large services on Sunday mornings.  It soon became clear that the facility at the Lagoon Restaurant had become inadequate to accommodate the growth that God was bringing.  So, in August 1999, the leadership of the church took a step of faith to purchase the piece of land where the sanctuary is located.

In 2003, in the seventh year of the church, the first phase of the sanctuary, which seats approximately 2,500 was completed and dedicated.

In April 2007, Pastor Eskor Mfon passed on. And on September 16, 2007, as successor to Pastor Eskor, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade (fondly called Pastor ID) assumed the leadership of the Apapa Family, Lagos Province 4 of RCCG and City of David, ably supported by his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Siju Iluyomade.

In August 2014, Apapa Family became Region 20 headquarters. God gave Pastor ID a vision of exceeding greatness and the church has been growing in leaps and bounds with signs and wonders following.

The City of David runs two services, the Sunrise and Sunshine Services and the number of worshippers have increased from 1,800 in September 2007 to over 5,000.

And as if they are aiming at the sky, the members of City of David have now embarked on a landmark project, Trinity Towers.

Real estate valuers say the church would spend over N2 billion on the gigantic Lagos edifice.
