Recession: Pay TV providers woo subscribers with promos

In order to keep and win subscribers despite the harsh economy, pay TV providers are wooing customers with promos.

Information pieced together by encomium.ng revealed that the popular pay TV providers engage in series of promos when patronage is low or at special occasions such as Christmas, Sallah or during Ramadan.

Star times, one of the pay TV providers, is currently giving out free to air on all its channels for a period of one week once a subscriber stays connected for two months. And subscribers who have not paid for a while are given one week free to air on all channels.

Multi choice’s pay TV channel, GoTV gives out free airtime once a subscriber stays connected for three months nonstop.

While new subscribers would enjoy one month free to air on GoTV plus if they come on board.

We further gathered that the pay TV subscribers have strengthened their customer relations just to keep their subscribers. Star times would ensure they call their customers to inform them about their ongoing promos, most especially customers who have not patronised them for months. We learnt GoTV also bombards subscribers with SMS for the same purpose too.
