In Tokyo (Japan’s capital), fire and rescue officials, in a bid to uncover the dangers of texting and taking selfies while on the road, found that in the past four years, 122 pedestrians had to be rushed to hospitals after being involved in collisions caused by someone with their eyes glued to their smartphone.
Japanese researchers also point out that when people focus on their phones, they drastically cut their field of vision to 5 percent of what they normally see.
