March is here, bringing goodies filled with admiration, celebration and appreciation of women from all walks of life. It’s International Women’s Day but this year’s commemoration comes with an extra perk. We are wondering though, does this perk have something to do with the new decade – or the fact that women are becoming more aware of their rights and the capabilities they possess. We believe it definitely has something to do with the year’s theme – Each for Equal!!!
This is why we were excited when Women at Y’ello ‘turned up’ at the MTN Penthouse to commemorate the 2020 International Women’s Day. The event was held to discuss and tackle some of the unconscious biases shared against women. If ‘unconscious bias’ doesn’t strike a chord, it means intuitive judgments/stereotypes are deeply ingrained in our beliefs, are able to affect our attitude and behaviour towards other people.
The highlight of the event was when the ‘Strike-A-Pose’ competition commenced and Y’ello women proudly took the #EachforEqual pose, adorning it with different angles, beautiful smiles and a positive vibe!
There’s nothing more inspiring than seeing Y’ello women boldly dressed in purple to take a stand for a gender-equal world. Remember! Equality is not solely about women but the prospects of a gender-equal world which can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious.
