The Sun has finally decided to stop featuring topless models, ending the controversial tradition that has been with the paper since 1970.
Page 3 of the Sun has been heavily criticised as sexist and anachronistic, with the campaign group ‘No More Page 3’ mounting pressure on the tabloid through social media amid online petitions. A spokeswoman for the group told UK’s The Guardian: ‘This could be truly historic news and a great day for people power.’
Friday’s (January 16) edition was the last time it will contain an image of a topless glamour model. Instead of bare breast, the pictures will now show women in bras, pants or bikinis.
