British families throw away enough food to make six meals a week – claims a report into waste by British Members of Parliament (MPs).
The report, compiled by the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee showed that the whole nation trashes food worth £12billion (N3.43tr) and that the average household could save up to £400 (N114,393) a year if everything bought was eaten rather than dumped.
It estimates that of the 15 million tons of food wasted nationwide, nine million tons is completely edible.
