ZAAKI AZZAY FINALLY REMARRIES – Details of the Saturday, May 10 secret wedding

Music star, Zaaki Azzay has finally remarried. And this is authoritative. Like ENCOMIUM Weekly exclusively reported on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, the torch-light carrying musician’s new wife is Hembadoon Maskaven Ugema, from Makurdi, Benue State.

Said to be 24 (Zaaki is 50), Hembadoon was officially married to the popular musician on Saturday, May 10, 2014.

The secret traditional marriage held at the bride’s family house in Makurdi. Initial fears over Hembadoom’s relationship with the father of Zaaki’s estrange wife, Hadiza had forced his prospective in-laws to suspend the wedding on Friday, April 25. And weeks after the parties reconvened, it was established that Hadiza’s uncle was only her foster father since Hembadoon’s mother allegedly had her for the man Zaaki paid the bride prize last Saturday.

(Hembadoon’s mom, ENCOMIUM Weekly was reliably informed, is however, still married to Hadiza’s uncle).

With all the initial road blocks now cleared and differences sorted out, Zaaki has now successfully stepped into his second marriage, two years after his union with the mother of his three children (two girls and a boy) crashed.

Hadiza-and-her-children“It is true that Zaaki Azzay wedded Hembadoon this afternoon (Saturday, May 10, 2014) around 2 in a quiet traditional setting attended by mainly family members. He actually took many by surprise because nobody knew they were dating, considering the fact that she knows he was previously married to Hadiza. Hembadoon’s friends are even saying the poor girl should be left alone as far as she is happy and knows who she’s getting married to”, a source told ENCOMIUM Weekly.

Zaaki Azzay declined comment when we contacted him to confirm his second marriage on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Below is the unreplied text message we sent to him:

Is it true you remarried today, Saturday, May 11, 2014?

So, how does it feel to be married again?

Is it true the lady you married is somehow related to your estranged wife, Hadiza?

When ENCOMIUM Weekly called again that same day, a man who claimed to be his personal assistant confirmed he was indeed at his traditional wedding. “We appreciate your call. Thank you”, he told our reporter.

Hadiza, on her part told ENCOMIUM Weekly on Sunday, May 11, 2014, she was not bothered one bit by Zaaki’s purported marriage.

She said: “That is his life. I’m not bothered at all. He pushed me out to take another wife. That is not my problem right now. Zaaki should please, bring back my girl whom he abducted and dumped in Abuja for two years now. That is my own headache.”

Asked to tell us more about Hembadoon and their relationship, Hadiza declined comment, insisting they are all adults that know what is good for them.

Hadiza further told us she was eagerly waiting for the formal dissolution of their marriage, though her estranged husband hardly comes to court. She was, however, optimistic the issues would all be resolved in no distant time in her favour.

Zaaki and Hadiza were married for nine years before their marriage crumbled in April 2012. They are already in court where Hadiza is asking for divorce. She alleged that the Benue-born musician assaults and maltreats her. Before she made her case public, Hadiza left Zaaki’s house and was offered accommodation by Project Alert on Violence Against Women, a non-governmental organisation fighting domestic violence and other forms of abuses against women.

Two years on, Zaaki Azzay has now settled for Hembadoon Maskaven, a younger lover, a Mass Communication (Diploma student) of the Benue State University, who is also into events and catering services. They tied the knot the traditional way last weekend.
