‎Amosun Presents Documents on Proposed Ogun Poly, Varsity to NBTE, NUC

 

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has presented the final documents to support the application for the proposed Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia to the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE), in Kaduna.
Amosun, also yesterday, presented documents for approval for the plan by the state to upgrade the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to the University of Science and Technology to the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja.
The governor, in company of some members of the State Executive Council as well as members of the Technical Committee charged with the responsibility of midwifing the establishment of the two institutions, said the approval will help produce professionals with industry-based knowledge and skills for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Also according to him, it will build the human capital and capacity through qualitative and affordable higher education, which he noted, is one of his administration’s cardinal agenda.
While appreciating the board for its continued support and cooperation towards the positive development of the Technical and Vocational sub-sector, he commended it for sustaining the good quality and high standard of Technical and Vocational Education in the nation.
Amosun, who was honoured by the management to commission an ultra-modern building within the premises of the board’s headquarters, said the two events clearly indicated the close working relationship between the NBTE and the state government.
Speaking after receiving the document, Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Dr. Masudu Adamu Kasari congratulated the Ogun State Government for the initiative to establish a new polytechnic, saying that it will be of great benefit to the indigenes, industries and the nation at large.
Kasari said that the government has met the constitutional requirement for the approval.
At the NUC headquarters in Abuja, the governor said the proposed university will be fitted with state-of-the-art facilities, adding that the institution will focus on courses that will lead to the production of entrepreneurial graduates, that will be socially relevant and globally competitive.
