The CEO of Asandrea Collections, Ugafor Tochukwu Michael has emerged the Best Designer of the year at the just concluded CAMA 2014, an award organised by Classic Magazine.
The celebrity designer shared the good news during the just concluded ENCOMIUM’s Black & White Ball, held on Sunday, August 10, 2014.
What is your impression about ENCOMIUM’s Black & White Ball?
ENCOMIUM Black & White Ball was wow. It was an event to remember. The packaging was superb. I call it the gathering of stars. I was a bit late though, I must tell you I and my wife enjoyed ourselves. We had great fun. It was 100/100 event.
Was that your first or you’ve be attending before now?
Yes, it was my first outing, but not the first invitation. I thank God I was here this year.
What aspects of the event did you enjoy most?
I must be honest, I enjoyed all. It was a great event. I laughed the stress of the week off with beautiful jokes of Ali Baba, Julius Agwu, Okey Bakassi and others. I enjoyed the awards segment. It is very good to appreciate hard work.
What areas do you think we can improves?
I will say you are following the steps right. You’re doing what you know how to do best. ENCOMIUM keep it up!
Let’s talk about the CAMA 2014. How does it feel to have emerged best designer?
I feel good, I never knew the world is following my activities. Good job sells itself. I give God all the honour.
I have worked so hard in re-defining African style to be acceptable to the globe, and my happiness will be complete the day President Obama would invite me to take his measurement for good African outfit as an African man. The Best Designer of the Year is a result of handwork.
What does the award mean to you?
It means a lot to me, a lot I say!
Did you see it coming?
Honestly, I will not say I saw it coming or I didn’t see it coming because I have worked hard to make a name in fashion industry and the result is all over the streets of the world. What gives me joy most is seeing my creativity everywhere round the globe. I have touched the life of many tailors knowing, through fashion guards like putting my jobs on magazines for their clients to make choices. I met the MD of Classic Magazine first time at CAMA 2014 I never knew him till that day.
What should we be expecting from your brand?
I will keep on creating. Expect more classic outfits.
