A 30-year-old woman is currently standing trial after she gave birth during her lunch break and abandoned the baby girl in a nearby field in Poland.
After she returned to work, her manager spotted blood on her clothes, though she claimed she was fine, he refused to accept her claims, and took her to hospital – where doctors disclosed she had been pregnant.
The woman, identified as Jolanta Czarnecka, first told doctors that she had the baby by accident and that the baby had been sucked down a toilet at her work; detectives, however, found no evidence of childbirth in the toilet or the pipes.
She later admitted to actually giving birth in a nearby field in Ilawa, Poland – where the abandoned baby was found two days after her birth severely dehydrated and covered in insects. The attending doctor described her survival as a “miracle”.
She is said to have been hiding her unwanted pregnancy from colleagues and friends.
