Blackberry launches new square-shaped ‘Passport’ phone

In a desperate bid to stem its slide, Blackberry has launched a new square-shaped smartphone with a large screen.

The 4.5-inch screen unconventional phone dubbed ‘The Passport’ – which is the size and shape of a closed passport – was unveiled at simultaneous events in Toronto, London and Dubai today (September 24). Users can type on the Passport’s keyboard to enter text, or swipe lightly across it to navigate through the phone.

It is expected to cost $699 in Canada and US$599 (N95,840) in the United States
