The Islamic militants’ attack on Paris-based newspaper, Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday (January 7, 2015) has left about 20 persons dead – including 10 journalists, two police officers, four hostages and the two suspects.
The 10 journalists were the first fatalities of the attack when they were shot by jihadists who stormed the newspaper’s offices in Paris as its journalists met to discuss a conference on racism on Wednesday. The two police officers died after the militants opened fire on a police van.
The four hostages held at a Paris supermarket were killed at the end of a siege today (Friday, January 9) involving a jihadist gunman who threatened to kill his hostages if police moved in on the two suspects holding another hostage in a print-works near Charles de Gaulle airport (Paris).
The two suspects, brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi were gunned down by police today after they were surrounded at the Dammartin-en-Goele factory where they were held a 26-year-old male hostage.
