Cheryl reveals why she kept ex-husband’s surname

Newly-wed, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, has revealed why she kept her ex-husband, Ashley Cole’s surname after their divorce.

The Girls Aloud star has admitted she didn’t go through the trouble of dropping the last name and reclaiming maiden name – Tweedy – because she couldn’t go through the hassle of changing the name on her documents, especially her passport, saying “I don’t have weeks to send my passport off”.

In her words, “That feels like the old me. Old old me.” She continued, “that would be like going backwards another stage, and why would i do that? And it doesn’t feel like his [Ashley Cole] name.”

The 33-year-old footballer was the subject of allegations of infidelity in their marriage which lasted from 2006-2010. Cheryl maintains that despite his apparent wrongdoing, she was determined not to let it cause inconvenience for herself.
