CLI College partners Indian University to Host Virtual Symposium for Business Professionals

In a bid to foster conversations on the development of Fintech in Africa and Asia, leading private career college, Career Learning International (CLI) Nigeria, has partnered with Christ University India, to host a webinar on the theme, “The growth of Fintech in emerging economies; A study of India and Nigeria.” The webinar will hold on March 26, 2022, and will analyze the growth of Fintech in emerging economies and will bring together key players in the industry to discuss start-ups that are using technology to improve financial inclusion, particularly in Africa and Asia. The webinar is focused on exploring the many benefits of the financial technology sector, highlighting the contributing factors of Fintech adoption and how Fintech stands as the major driver of financial inclusion in emerging economies such as Nigeria and India. One of the merits of Fintech is its capacity to enhance and achieve financial inclusion globally. Fintech companies offer services such as money transfer, check deposits using a mobile phone, credit application, and even fundraising for businesses, These Fintechs usually have little to no physical presence as the entire banking process is through the use of technology. Ten years ago, it was rare to see a Nigerian startup raise $10 million. However, today, the country’s Fintech unicorns like Interswitch and Flutterwave are becoming just as valuable as the traditional banks. Interswitch and Flutterwave are valued at over $1 billion each, while Opay is valued at $2 billion. In 2021, 102 Nigerian startups raised $1.09 billion, and 73.5 per cent went to startups in the Financial Services. Following the massive growth of the Fintech industry globally, more conversations continue to arise on how to explore the many opportunities in Fintech. The virtual symposium by CLI College will be focused on discussions around – the evolution of the Fintech Industry, the purpose and function of traditional Fintech, and the opportunities and challenges for Fintech. Speaking on the webinar, Principal Head, CLI College, Tioluwalogo Olakunbi-Black, said, “At CLI College, we have created a knowledge share and capacity building platform via local and international partnerships to bridge vocational and professional skills gap in critical growth sectors of our economy. This symposium is one of those knowledge share opportunities to promote the growing Fintech development and contribute to the deepening of the Fintech exchanges between Nigeria and India.”Associate Professor, Christ University India, Prof. Jayant Mahajan speaking on the University’s collaboration with CLI College, said, “A critical look at the role that Fintech startups play in the economic transformation of emerging economies reveal similarities yet unique distinctions and as such; we are excited at this symposium partnership and look forward to sharing our learnings, especially as regards the promotion of international exchange on Fintech between Nigeria and India.”Key players in Fintech in Nigeria and India will be live to discuss the opportunities the Fintech industry continues to provide.
