Amanda Knox, a former college student whose murder trial in Italy drew international media attention, is now working as a journalist after she was hired by West Seattle Herald – nine months after being convicted in absentia for the second time of killing her roommate (Meredith Kercher) in 2007, UK’s Daily Mail reports.
Her editor, Patrick Robinson, said about hiring the 27-year-old: “We approached her originally to give her the opportunity of a normal life. We simply asked her as we would ask anyone of that age and stage, if they would be interested in writing for us as a qualified writer of that scale and this level of journalism”.
The cub reporter, who grew up in West Seattle, has been covering the local theater scene and writing human interest stories; she works as a freelance writer.
