Country-wide demonstrations hit the US as police arrest protesters in Ferguson

Some 44 people were arrested in Ferguson, Missouri (USA) as demonstrations were staged across the country on the heels of a grand jury’s decision not to indict the police officer, Darren Wilson, who shot and killed a black teen, Michael Brown on August 9, 2014.

In St Louis County (Missouri), two FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) agents were shot at a barricaded home earlier today (Wednesday, November 26). They suffered non-life threatening injuries, and the incident was not directly related to the protests taking place miles away, the FBI said.

The protests have spread to virtually every corner of the United States (US) as thousands of people marched in Boston (Massachusetts), Baltimore (Maryland), Chicago (Illinois) and outside the White House in Washington DC. In New York City, police used pepper spray after protesters tried to block the Lincoln Tunnel. In Los Angeles (California) and Cleveland (Ohio), protesters blocked traffic, while hundreds of Seattle (Washington) students walked out of high school.
