Scores of divers earlier today (Thursday, January 8, 2015) plunged into the Java sea (Indonesia) as part of efforts in search of the wrecked AirAsia jet black boxes containing the recorders that could reveal why the plane crashed.
It was discovered that the Singapore-bound plane from Indonesia’s second-biggest city of surabaya vanished from the radar screens over the northern Java sea on December 28, with no survivors among the 162 people on board.
According to Fransiskus Bambang Soelistyo, the head of the search and rescue agency, a total of 84 divers are within the ship’s vicinity and teams begun searching the jet’s tail at 0645 local time today, with poor visibility and strong currents impeding efforts.
