Dotti is the first MTN Y’ello star!

The grand finale of the MTN Y’ello Star competition witnessed a keenly contested moment as the top six contestants displayed their musical prowess while performing to both the judges and the viewing audience at the closing performance show on Sunday, December 13, 2020.
However, the competition got to the climax when Oladotun ‘Dotti’ Alani emerged as the winner of the first edition of the MTN Y’ello Star music talent hunt project following a performance of Eric Donaldson’s Cherry Oh Baby. Dotti, is a 26 year old composer from Oyo state. He has a National Diploma in Music Technology from The Polytechnic, Ibadan and has worked as a songwriter and jingle producer prior to his participation in MTN Y’ello Star.
 As the first MTN Y’ello Star, Dotti gets a fully-furnished house with an inbuilt-recording studio, a car and 5 million Naira cash prize. He is also entitled to record an album under the tutelage of Malik Yusef, American rapper and six-time Grammy award winner at the premier recording outlet, Power Studio in New York, United States of America (USA).
 Dotti, alongside other top-four finalists of the competition, will be attending the 2021 summer music programme at the Berklee College of Music in the USA.
While reaffirming MTN Nigeria’s commitment to youth empowerment and capacity development, Anthony Obi, Acting Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria said, “we are happy with the outcome of the project as we believe in the country’s youths. As a company operating in a youth-dominated market, we know that empowering the creativity of youths is crucial to the overall development of the country in all ramifications.”
