Ebola outbreak may have started at funeral – research

Scientists believe that the latest outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus may have begun at a funeral in Sierra Leone.

According to a study, at least 14 women were infected with the virus after attending the burial of a traditional healer who believed she could cure the disease in May, earlier this year.

The ceremony – tagged a “super-spreader” because of the number of people infected – led to the continuous spread of the disease.
