Fifth set of Glo Campus Data Dudes, Divas emerge at UNN

The ongoing nationwide Glo sponsored students’ music concert, Glo Campus Storm, was on a higher dimension at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus on Friday, November 11, when top music acts stormed the institution to entertain the entire campus community.

The combination of Mavin Records superstar, Korede Bello, fast rising hip-hop artiste, Runtown and Mr. Nabania, Flavour with the comic dexterity of popular comedian, Gordons, was all it took to send the excited audience to ‘Cloud Nine’ at the Ekpo Convention Centre.

The concert was a potpourri of events which included music, dance, comedy and pageantry. During the pageantry, 10 students of the school who contested for the Glo Campus Data Dude and the Glo Campus Data  Diva pageants went home with cash prizes ranging from N50,000 to N100,000.

The beauty pageant produced Eneboa Valentine as Glo Campus Data Dude winning a cash prize of N100, 000 and Ifediora Chimdindu as Glo Campus Data Diva also winning the same cash prize. Eight other students, comprising four boys and four girls, also won N50, 000 each.

The winners will join others winners who emerged from the University of Port Harcourt, UNEC, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, and the University of Uyo where the concert have been held to compete for a scholarship worth N1million at the grand finale of the contest.

Music rend the air as DJ Neptune controlled the vibes from the music console when students in a dancing competition keenly contested for a coveted prize.

Ibekwe Chinedu, a 200 level student of Political Science emerged winner, while Ugochukwu Victoria of the Department of Theatre arts was the first runner up and Chubuike David Ejiofor, a first year student of Agric Economics was second runner up.

‘Wannabe’ singers where given the opportunity to showcase their skills just before the main acts came on stage. Some of the up-and-coming artistes who performed include Kelwizz, Kris Jay, Mareez, Wills, Mandy, Chido Keys, Sinopizi and Zee Rawkpokpo, who were all cheered by the crowd.

Pretty young ladies and handsome young men who contested during the Campus Data Dude and Diva pageantry stunned the crowd as they filed out for the choreography which was one of the requirements for the competition.

Korede Bello set the ball rolling when he performed his hit tracks such as Baby Romantic, Everybody Come Close, Ada Ada, Mongo Park, wrapping up with God Win. His generosity earned some his fans some wads of cash as they danced along with him on stage.

Runtown expectedly raised the tempo with his ‘show me the receipt’ track. He also performed his other hit tracks like Lagos to Kampala, E Don Hamma, Walahi, De Boi and Bend Down Pause.

Flavour wrapped up the show with his life band performance. The composer of the sound track of the trending TV drama series, Professor Johnbull also rendered the song ‘Erudite Professor’ in his usual urban highlight manner. He sang other songs including ‘Waka waka’ and ‘Adama’.

Globacom’s Head of Operations, South-South, Mr. Enekwachi Aja while delivering a speech during the concert said that the show was organised “to reward the youth segment of our teeming subscriber base and to encourage them to tap into the world of opportunities available for them to win scholarship worth N1 million by using the Glo Campus Booster Data services”.

The Abia State University, Uturu will host the next Glo Campus Storm music concert on November 18. Mr. Ajah urged students wishing to attend the concert to recharge their Glo lines with just N500 Glo Campus Data Booster plan and be admitted to the concert.
