HAJJ 2019: Lagos to commence weekend lectures for pilgrims

The annual weekend lectures which will herald the 2019 Hajj exercise will commence in the 20 Local Government Secretariats across the State on Saturday, 11th May.

This disclosure was made by the Board Secretary, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Rahman Ishola while briefing stakeholders on preparations for the exercise, noting that the lecture is designed to educate and sensitise the intending pilgrims on the dos and don’ts of the hajj exercise and the basic tenets of Islam.

According to him, the main goal and objective of the pilgrimage should be properly inculcated and communicated to the pilgrims in order to ensure a hitch-free hajj exercise.

Ishola also advised the designated coordinators to be courteous and receptive towards the intending pilgrims in carrying out their duties as well as avoid conflict of interest amongst them.

He stated further that Islamic scholars will be assigned to each local government to educate the pilgrims on the spiritual aspect of the Hajj exercise while the coordinators are to enlighten the pilgrims on the specifics of Hajj in terms of behaviour and manners expected of them.

While urging intending pilgrims, who are yet to make complete payments to do so, the Board Secretary revealed that those still interested in performing the Hajj 2019 exercise with the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board still have the opportunity to obtain a form.
